Apex is pleased to spotlight...

Jaime Weinstein, Chief Operating Officer

Tell us a bit about your background and time at Apex.

I've spent over ten years in transactional law and commercial finance, with a strong focus on equipment finance. Over time, I’ve developed a blend of legal experience and business management that helps me approach challenges from multiple angles. Since joining Apex, I’ve had the opportunity to be part of some exciting initiatives—like merging Firstrust Bank’s commercial mortgage and equipment finance subsidiaries and launching new systems for loan origination and contract management.

You studied tax law—how did that shape your career?

I earned both my JD and LLM in Taxation from Temple University, and while I didn’t stay in tax law, it gave me a perspective I still use every day. Tax law is really about people and the decisions they make—it’s not just rules and numbers. That mindset has been incredibly helpful in finance, where understanding the “why” behind the numbers can make a big difference.

Tell us about your role. What are your responsibilities?

I wear a few different hats in my role, which keeps things interesting. At a high level, I oversee the operations for our commercial mortgage and equipment finance business. That means making sure everything runs smoothly—from how we originate and manage loans to how our teams collaborate and deliver for customers.

I also lead a lot of our technology projects, like rolling out new systems for loan origination and contract management. I really enjoy that part—finding ways to make our processes more efficient and scalable through smart tech solutions.

And of course, a big part of my job is managing people. I work with talented teams, and I try to create an environment where they feel supported and are clear on expectations. I try to stay close to the day-to-day so I can understand what’s working, what’s not, and where we can improve.

At the end of the day, my role is about connecting the dots—between strategy and execution, people and processes, and short-term goals and long-term vision.

How would you describe your leadership style?

I take a very hands-on approach. I like to understand how things function and ensure we’re meeting high standards. I believe in building strong, consistent processes, but I also value flexibility. I lead by example—jumping in to solve a problem.

What do you think sets you apart as a leader?

I try to lead with clarity, integrity, and a big-picture mindset. I want to be approachable and collaborative, but I also know when to step in and make tough decisions. People often come to me for guidance, and I take pride in being someone they can count on.

What motivates you, both professionally and personally?

My daughters. They push me to be the best version of myself—not just at home, but in my career as well. I want to show them what it looks like to work hard and hold yourself to high standards. My goal is to model the kind of confidence, resilience, and character I hope they carry with them.

What’s the biggest risk you’ve taken in your career?

Honestly, it’s been my willingness to change. Whether it was shifting roles, industries, or learning entirely new skills, I’ve consistently chosen growth over comfort. It hasn’t always been easy, but it has been rewarding.

What do you enjoy outside of work?

I love staying active—working out is my go-to for clearing my head. I’m also really into cooking and trying new recipes, especially when I can rope my family into being taste testers. I’m a bit of a bookworm and part of a book club that keeps things fun and engaging. But most of all, I love spending time with my daughters. Our family trips to Disney World are always a highlight.

What are you most proud of?

I’m proud of how I’ve been able to balance the different parts of my life. I’m a mom, I have a career I care deeply about, and I’m always looking for ways to grow and take on new challenges. It doesn’t always go smoothly, but I do my best to show up fully in each role—and that’s something I take a lot of pride in.
